Joe Burrow injury: Bengals clinch AFC North, but at what cost?

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered what appeared to be a leg injury in a game-winning drive to beat the Chiefs.

Sure, Zac Taylor secured the Bengals first AFC North crown in quite some time. It took a heroic effort from Burrow — the face of the franchise — to secure such a win. Unfortunately, on what felt like the Bengals’ thousandth fourth-down try from the goal line, Burrow suffered a lower-body injury and limped off the field.

With Burrow out for the final few plays, backup quarterback Brandon Allen came in the game and knelt to wind down the clock for a final field-goal attempt.

If Burrow is to miss some time, hopefully it will just be as a precaution in Week 18, as the Bengals have now clinched the AFC North. Thanks to a loss by the Baltimore Ravens, the Bengals competition for the division crown flopped the last few weeks.

Suddenly, Burrow’s health is the greater question. After suffering a season-ending knee injury last year, Burrow has been a tremendous comeback story this year, leading one of the best offenses in the NFL.

We’ll have more on this story shortly.
