His latest comments really make you believe that he won’t be back in 2022. While meeting with the media, Roethlisberger said while he’s not ready to say he’s definitely going to retire, he added it’s looking like Monday’s tilt with Cleveland will be his final regular season home game.

Ben Roethlisberger said he’ll likely retire at the end of the season

This has been coming for a while now. Roethlisberger nearly retired last winter, but he decided to return to the team. Folks were hoping that Roethlisberger would be able to end his career in style by leading Pittsburgh on a deep postseason run.

Instead, it’s been an up-and-down year for Pittsburgh and they’re on the outside looking in for the playoffs. A report surfaced earlier in the year too saying that Roethlisberger had started to tell close family and friends that he’s going to hang up his cleats once 2021 comes to a close.

Again, Roethlisberger hasn’t officially come out and said he’s done, but it’s safe to assume he won’t be suiting up for Mike Tomlin next campaign. The Super Bowl-winning signal-caller is loved all over Pittsburgh and nothing will ever change that.

Come Monday night, it’s sure to be an emotional scene for Roethlisberger from start to finish. The fans in the stands will no question be emotional too, as Roethlisberger has meant so much to the organization over the years.
