The Tennessee Titans wasted not one, but three draft picks by releasing wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick.
While Tennessee is absolutely dripping with receiving talent with the likes of A.J. Brown and newcomer Julio Jones, we should not be the least bit surprised they just cut a guy they traded three picks to acquire in the first place. The Titans sent the Carolina Panthers the No. 126 pick, the No. 166 pick and the No. 232 pick for the right to select Fitzpatrick at No. 109 out of Louisville.
This is the same organization that used a first-round pick on four snaps worth of service out of Isaiah Wilson last year.

Admittedly, we have been giving Jon Gruden a bad rap when it comes to not understanding a draft value chart. Then again, he did win a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers players and he was pretty good next to Mike Tirico in the ESPN booth. At least when the Las Vegas Raiders reach on an NFL draft prospect, he actually plays for them. What are the Titans doing?
Mike Vrabel may have his Titans in position to be back in the AFC playoffs once again, but how do you screw up two draft picks in back-to-back years this horrendously? I understand that Jones was still a member of the Atlanta Falcons when Fitzpatrick was selected, but you can’t give three picks to an on-the-rise team like the Panthers and then cut the guy you traded up to get for them.
We absolutely cannot wait to see how the Titans waste even more of the draft picks next spring.
