Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was impressed like the rest of us when seeing the amazing “Hard Knocks” drone shot in the show’s latest episode.
The Dallas Cowboys have so far dominated the preseason headlines, especially when it comes to the status of quarterback Dak Prescott. But they also have been in the spotlight for their appearance on the latest season of HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
Perhaps one thing from the series that is receiving universal acclaim is the drone shot at the beginning of the third episode. NFL Films used a continuous drone shot to give the world a view of The Star facility in Frisco, Tx.
One of those impressed by the camera work was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

There is plenty of reason to be left in awe by this camera work. According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, NFL Films planned the drone shot for weeks while the team was still at Oxnard, Calif. for the start of training camp. Additionally, the view of The Star that made “Hard Knocks” was the 15th shot.
Peter Schrager of FOX Sports and NFL Media’s “Good Morning Football” host further elaborated on the process. The NFL Films and Sky Candy Studios crews used a first-person view drone by CineWhoop and attached a GoPro camera to it. They only had three hours to get the shot due to an indoor boxing event taking place later in the day.
So there you have it, it took 15 shots and three hours to get this view of the Cowboys’ training facility. A tip of the cap is well deserved for the crews involved, because they left viewers in awe with the fluidness of their drone camera work.
