Brett Veach has been a busy man this week and just agreed to a new deal with veteran offensive tackle Mike Remmers.
After releasing both Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher earlier this month, you knew the Kansas City Chiefs would be busy addressing the offensive line this offseason. Well, general manager Brett Veach has made some exciting moves this week to address that.
First, Kansas City pulled a power play and signed veteran guard Joe Thuney to a five-year deal and followed that up by landing Kyle Long. Now, the team is ready to keep the good news going, as insider Nate Taylor is reporting the Chiefs have agreed to a one-year deal with Mike Remmers. Yup, Remmers is staying put and will be back with the team next season.

Per Taylor, Remmers’ deal with the team is worth up to $6.8 million, with $3.3 million guaranteed. On top of that, Taylor says that Kansas City has brought Remmers back to compete for the starting spot at right tackle, and that nothing will be handed to him. That makes sense, with the team also eyeing a left tackle to replace Fisher as well.
Remmers first joined Kansas City last season, appearing in 13 games and making 10 starts. Now, he’s hoping to lock down the right tackle spot and do his best at protecting the NFL‘s richest man in Patrick Mahomes.
For Kansas City, the team enters the 2021 campaign with Super Bowl hopes, as they are no doubt motivated from their loss last month to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
