After 16 weeks, we have our answer: Aaron Rodgers is the MVP for the third time in his career, while Patrick Mahomes takes second place.

In the 2020 FanSided NFL quarterback rankings — which go live here every Tuesday morning throughout the regular season — we use a weighted average of current and past performances, with the former meaning more than the latter.

32

Dwayne Haskins

QB Washington Football Team

2020 stats: 1,439 yards | 61.4 completion % | 5 TDs | 7 INTs | 6.0 YPA | 30.7 QBR

Last Week: 30

How bad has Dwayne Haskins been on and off the field in Washington? He got released on Monday morning.

31

C.J. Beathard

QB San Francisco 49ers

2020 stats: 514 yards | 64.7 completion % | 5 TDs | 0 INTs | 7.7 YPA | 43.0 QBR

Last Week: NA

Beathard has won two games in his career, and looked the part on Saturday. Still, somehow, the Niners came out on top over a desperate Cardinals team.

30

Mike Glennon

QB Jacksonville Jaguars

2020 stats: 811 yards | 62.0 completion % | 5 TDs | 5 INTs | 5.9 YPA | 39.6 QBR

Last Week: NA

The fact Glennon is starting over Gardner Minshew is a football felony, but here we are.

29

Brandon Allen

QB Cincinnati Bengals

2020 stats: 877 yards | 69.4 completion % | 5 TDs | 2 INTs | 7.2 YPA | 54.1 QBR

Last Week: NA

Two straight wins for the Bengals! And on Sunday, Allen lit up the Texans for 371 yards and two touchdowns. I mean, it’s Houston, but still a great day.

28

Sam Darnold

QB New York Jets

2020 stats: 1,942 yards | 58.8 completion % | 8 TDs | 9 INTs | 5.9 YPA | 42.0 QBR

Last Week: 29

No real movement for Darnold this week. He was mediocre against the Browns, going 16-fof-32 and 175 yards with two touchdowns. With the Jets falling out of the top pick, one wonders if he’s back in 2021.

27

Daniel Jones

QB New York Giants

2020 stats: 2,714 yards | 62.6 completion % | 9 TDs | 9 INTs | 6.4 YPA | 63.3 QBR

Last Week: NA

Jones simply doesn’t offer the upside of other young quarterbacks. The turnovers are too many, the sacks too prevalent and the big plays too few.

26

Drew Lock

QB Denver Broncos

2020 stats: 2,594 yards | 57.0 completion % | 14 TDs | 15 INTs | 6.5 YPA | 50.0 QBR

Last Week: 26

The game is too fast for Lock. It’s evident, and there’s no fixing that. If general manager John Elway sticks with him for 2021, it’s likely a big mistake.

25

Tua Tagovailoa

QB Miami Dolphins

2020 stats: 1,453 yards | 65.1 completion % | 10 TDs | 2 INTs | 6.3 YPA | 57.7 QBR

Last Week: 20

Tagovailoa has to move way back. He’s clearly the second-best quarterback on his own team, both in practice and in his head coach’s mind. Getting benched twice in a month isn’t ideal.

24

Cam Newton

QB New England Patriots

2020 stats: 2,415 yards | 65.9 completion % | 5 TDs | 10 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 44.9 QBR

Last Week: 24

Hard to see Newton starting anywhere next season. Have to wonder if this is it for him.

23

Jalen Hurts

QB Philadelphia Eagles

2020 stats: 989 yards | 54.7 completion % | 6 TDs | 3 INTs | 7.7 YPA | 40.2 QBR

Last Week: 25

Hurts had some good moments in Dallas, but two interceptions and garbage-time yardage isn’t ideal. He’s the best quarterback in Philadelphia, but is he the answer? Unclear.

22

Andy Dalton

QB Dallas Cowboys

2020 stats: 1,926 yards | 65.4 completion % | 14 TDs | 7 INTs | 6.7 YPA | 56.4 QBR

Last Week: 22

Dalton had the best game of his season on Sunday, throwing for 377 yards and three touchdowns. However, he stays put because the quarterbacks in front of him also played well, and the gap was too large to close without some clunkers.

21

Mitch Trubisky

QB Chicago Bears

2020 stats: 1,803 yards | 65.1 completion % | 16 TDs | 7 INTs | 7.1 YPA | 57.8 QBR

Last Week: 21

Trubisky was fine against Jacksonville. He threw a hilarious interception, went for 265 yards and generally kept the offense moving. No reason to go nuts with praise, but Trubisky did his job.

20

Teddy Bridgewater

QB Carolina Panthers

2020 stats: 3,557 yards | 69.7 completion % | 15 TDs | 9 INTs | 7.6 YPA | 66.7 QBR

Last Week: 18

Bridgewater has made a decent case to be the starter in 2021 for the Panthers. He’s a good quarterback with limitations, but he doesn’t make many mistakes and generally keeps his team in games.

19

Jared Goff

QB Los Angeles Rams

2020 stats: 3,952 yards | 67.0 completion % | 20 TDs | 13 INTs | 7.2 YPA | 58.6 QBR

Last Week: 16

Goff isn’t getting penalized because of a broken thumb. He’s been knocked down because the Rams scored nine points, Goff was tentative even before getting hurt, and he’s been turning the ball over at an alarming rate in recent weeks.
