Could Khalil Mack head to Dallas for Dak Prescott?
The Dallas Cowboys and Chicago bears are both bad teams this season, but they are almost mirror images of one another. While Dallas has a tremendously productive quarterback in Dak Prescott and a Charmin-soft defense, the Bears are watching Khalil Mack’s elite defense in the league get let down by Matt Nagy and poor quarterback play. The best way for both of them to fix this issue could be an earth-shattering trade this offseason.
NBC Sports Chicago is musing on the possibility of trading for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, with Mack heading to Dallas as compensation.
The Bears need a quarterback like Dak Prescott, and the Cowboys need a defensive star like Khalil Mack
The Cowboys will likely end up with a Top 10 pick in a draft class that is full of great quarterbacks. Considering the fact they have Pro Bowlers in the backfield and out wide in Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper, whomever they take to replace Dak and avoid paying him a huge contract will have plenty of weapons.
Throw in the brilliant Kellen Moore calling plays, and you have a recipe for success. Mack, meanwhile, could give the Cowboys an elite pass rusher that can help the entire defense by taking pressure off of their porous secondary.
Even without Mack, a defense led by the likes of Roquan Smith and Eddie Jackson on the field and Chuck Pagano on the sideline will be among the league’s best. Prescott might not have a very good offensive line in Chicago, but he can give a Bears team that has plenty of talent at the skill positions a steady hand that can and will go deep more frequently than two marginal arm talents in Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky.
This might be a tough deal to pull off given the magnitude of both players that would be swapping cities, but the Cowboys can get a dominant defensive player to help out their hypothetical, soon-to-be-drafted quarterback, while a Bears team that has lucked into a few wins can get an elite quarterback ready to do damage and challenge for the NFC North title.
