Nick Chubb did not see the need to opt out to help improve his NFL Draft stock.

Nick Chubb sees the value of playing out each college football season to finish the year strong.

Players left and right are opting out of their final few weeks of college football before turning pro. This is becoming more commonplace in college football than ever before. Again, everybody has to make the best decision for themselves. However, Chubb saw firsthand how important it was he stayed for his senior year at Georgia. Those memories he made in 2017 were priceless ones.

You are only going to be in college once, so make the most of the experience

“They should definitely play,” said Chubb to FanSided‘s Mark Carman on behalf of Snickers’ Hungriest Player of the Week. “I know for me, I could have come out after my junior too and I would have been drafted probably the same as I was the next year.”

“So me going back to school, I went back for my senior year, I didn’t go back because of my draft grade, I went back because it’s college. There’s no other time I get to hang out with my best friends, my roommates, Sony Michel and Isaiah Wynn, they play for the New England Patriots. Man, I got to literally live with them for four years.”

“I think that’s time you can’t replace and everybody wants to come to the NFL. It’s a different life. You’ve got money, you got this, you’ve got all this freedom, but I mean, it’ll never be the same as college.”

“College is definitely the best time of your life. You should stay and enjoy it. You shouldn’t rush life because life is gonna come. So enjoy life while you’re there. I will never forget the time I had down there. It was great, it was special.”

Chubb and several key juniors, including fellow running back Sony Michel, decided to come back for their senior years at Georgia. The Dawgs went on to win the SEC for the first time since 2005, made the College Football Playoff for the first time in school history and played for a national championship for the first time since 1982. None of that would have happened if he opted out.

Chubb went at the top of the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, where he would be paired with No. 1 overall pick and 2017 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield, whose Oklahoma Sooners feels to Chubb’s Bulldogs in an all-time great Rose Bowl. Three years later, Chubb and Mayfield are on the precipice of leading the Cleveland Browns to the AFC playoffs.

Chubb made the best decision for himself back in 2017, and it paid out in dividends for him.
