Aaron Rodgers has every right to be angry after Sunday’s loss to the Colts.
The Green Bay Packers held what seemed to be a comfortable 28-14 halftime lead over the Indianapolis Colts. The offense then managed to score three more points the rest of the game, including overtime.
The Colts went on a run and were ultimately helped by several key fumbles from Packers players. Aaron Rodgers saw a victory literally slip out of his team’s hands and is likely furious following this one.
Key fumbles derail the Packers
The Packers fumbled three times in the game and Rodgers lost the ball on the opening drive. But the following two did much more damage.
The first came in the fourth quarter after the Colts kicked a field goal to tie the game at 28-28. Darrius Shepherd caught the kickoff and ran it out, only to lose the ball and hand it right back to the Colts. The Packers defense held strong and only allowed a field goal.
Then came overtime. The Packers got the ball and picked up eight yards right away. Rodgers threw a pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling on second down and lo and behold he fumbled the ball. The Colts got it at the Green Bay 29-yard-line and a field goal won it for Indianapolis.
Rodgers had his two turnovers in the game. That is fair to point out. Still, he has a right to be frustrated after throwing three touchdowns and seeing 31 points from the offense result in a loss.
The veteran is known for leading comebacks. He was able to march his team down the field for the game-tying field goal that sent the game to overtime. The Packers then even won the coin toss. But all the pain and effort working toward victory was wiped away by a fumble.
The loss drops the Packers to 7-3, which is still only one game behind New Orleans for the top record in the NFC. Rodgers and Packers fans will be hoping a choke job in Indy doesn’t cost the team a bye at the end of the year.
